A documentary on how women are betrayed by the media.
This was my favorite film this year. It is amazing how much the media shapes our values and priorities. What we presume to be beautiful and the pressures women place upon themselves and those around them to be "perfect."

Overrated. Unrepresentative of the real problems women face in the world.
Not true it's very accurate.
Accurate is different than representative. Does the media play a role in defining women's social status? Certainly. Are the more serious problems for women in the world (including the US) being defined by the media (I'm paraphrasing the movie's generalizations)? Hardly. UN generated statistics outline far more egregious crimes and conditions that should have been communicated in the film. http://unstats.un.org/unsd/demographic/products/Worldswomen/wwVaw2010.htm
The movie is not about women's lib, women's rights, or women's issues. It is simply about how women are represented in the media.
and they (the media and the movie) get it wrong....they represent a small minority of how the majority of women are actually treated, that's why it's unrepresentative of the real problems women face in the world.
No they don't get it wrong. This isn't about women's oppression, it is about how they are represented in the media -- the US media. For better or for worse. That is all. If you are looking for a documentary on the mortality of the female human species this isn't it. This movie is about the MEDIA. And just out of curiosity how do you know what it is like to be a woman and the "real" problems we face....?
Once again, in case you didn't catch the comments in #1, #2, and #3, the movie is 1) Overrated (by you), which is just my opinion and 2) Unrepresentative of the real problems women face in the world. I'm not an expert on this statement, I don't have inside knowledge, but this is just a statement of fact.
Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.
At least I know enough to not get into a land war in Asia.
